The 2008 Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals®: Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success study identifies 100 hospitals in the United States that set the highest national performance levels for both clinical and managerial excellence in heart care. Bronson is best rated in southwest Michigan for overall cardiac care by Healthgrades®, one of the nation's leading authorities on hospital performance. Bronson also earned a five-star rating, the highest possible, for the treatment of heart failure.

Chest Pain Treatment
Bronson offers special expertise in treating chest pain. Bronson was southwest Michigan's first accredited Chest Pain Center, and has full Cycle II accreditation with PCI. To earn this distinction, a hospital must meet or exceed a wide set of stringent criteria and complete onsite evaluations by a review team from the Society of Chest Pain Centers.

GWTG Silver Performance Achievement Award
Bronson was one of only 93 hospitals nationwide, and the only in southwest Michigan to receive the American College of Cardiology Foundation’s NCDR ACTION Registry–Get With The Guidelines Silver Performance Achievement Award for 2008. The award recognizes Bronson’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients.

Cardiac Specialty Center
Bronson Methodist Hospital has been designated a UnitedHealth PremiumSM cardiac specialty center, reflecting national recognition of its cardiac care services. Bronson was the first hospital in the state of Michigan to receive this designation.

The UnitedHealth PremiumSM cardiac specialty centers program identifies hospitals nationwide that are leaders in providing cardiac care. Select hospitals in the UnitedHealthcare network are invited to apply for designation. Hospitals are selected for designation as cardiac specialty centers based on scope of services and quality outcomes.

Governor's Award for Excellence
For the fifth year in a row, Bronson has received the Governor's Award of Excellence for Improving Care in the Hospital and Emergency Department Setting.  The award is bestowed to hospitals that are embracing evidence-based medicine and quality improvement initiatives to advance healthcare in Michigan.

Bronson used proven, evidence-based practices to produce successful measured outcomes in selected clinical areas. Selected areas included heart attack, heart failure and surgical infection prevention for inpatients, as well as pneumonia and heart attack for the Emergency Department.
