Neurosciences

Bronson Neurology and Bronson Neurosurgery specialists are members of the same medical practice and work together as a team to care for disorders of the brain, spine and nerves.

Neuroscience is the science of the human nervous system – the brain, spinal cord and the vast network of interconnecting nerve fibers. Nervous system disorders account for a wide variety of medical conditions and Bronson has assembled an impressive team of specialists with members from some of the most prestigious healthcare institutions in America to care for you and your family right here in southwest Michigan.

Bronson cares for both adults and children with a wide range of neurological conditions. Some of these conditions include brain and spine tumors, stroke, epilepsy, problems with memory or involuntary movement, migraine headaches, as well as chronic back and neck pain, peripheral nerve damage and head trauma, among others.

At Bronson, we are committed to providing an exceptional patient experience. We provide a healing environment with dedicated neuro critical care and neurovascular units, all private rooms and the most technically advanced surgical suites available. Meet Our Neuroscience Team

Whether you’ve experienced a stroke or traumatic brain injury, been diagnosed with a brain tumor, suffer from back or neck pain, or need help managing epilepsy or a nerve or muscle disorder, Bronson offers the expertise you need.

Bronson’s neurosciences team includes neurologists, neurosurgeons, a neurointerventional surgeon, rehabilitation therapists and specially-trained nurses, as well as other professionals. This team works together to determine the best treatment plan to meet each patient’s individual needs.

Our neurological team includes some of the most talented specialists in southwest Michigan, including the only fellowship-trained vascular neurologist who treats stroke, epileptologist who treats epilepsy, geriatric psychiatrist who treats memory loss and pediatric neurologists who specialize in treating children.

The neurosurgery team has special expertise in minimally invasive brain and spine surgery and is pioneering and refining the newest minimally invasive techniques. Minimally invasive cranial, spinal and vascular treatments offer many benefits to patients including less scaring, less pain, and less need for pain medication and a shorter recovery time. Our surgical team also has expertise in traditional brain and skull base surgery, including the region’s only neurosurgeon to have served a fellowship in both skull base and pediatric neurosurgery – a neurosurgeon with specialized training in pediatrics.

Our neurointerventional surgeon has advanced training to treat the most complex stroke and aneurysms non-invasively. Using high-tech imaging equipment, they are able to maneuver tiny surgical instruments through arteries to repair damage or open blockages.

When it comes to stroke, time lost is brain lost. The faster you are diagnosed and treated, the better. At Bronson, we have an Acute Stroke Intervention Team onsite, 24/7 – ready to respond. Using guidelines developed by the National Institute of Health and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, this specialized team quickly identifies the kind of stroke, evalutes the severity, and begins treatment immediately.

Bronson’s rehabilitation therapists are trained professionals who specialize in the evaluation and rehabilitation of patients recovering from neurological conditions – from traumatic head and neck injuries to stroke.
